Web Performance 2023
Henri Helvetica Head of Developer Community WebPageTest
Henri is a developer who has turned his interests to a passionate mix of site performance engineering and pinches of user experience, which led to his joining Catchpoint Systems on the WebPageTest Team.
When not reading the deluge of daily research docs and case studies, or profiling sites in his favourite tools, Henri can be found contributing back to the community: Toronto Web Performance Group meetup + Jamstack Toronto organizer, curating conference content or volunteering his time for lunch and learns at various bootcamps.
Otherwise, Henri is focusing on running the fastest 5k possible (surprise surprise), encouraging a healthy lifestyle via #devsWhoRun.
Web Performance 2023
Front end performance used to be a relatively simple task–minifying, concatenating and gzipping, a bit of smushing of images, and all done. But in 2022 it's far more than that, and only becoming more complex.
New patterns and technologies, like native lazy loading and resource pre-fetching have given front end developers greater control over performance, but these often come with subtle challenges that can hinder, not help performance.
Core Web Vitals have changed the stakes–making performance a key quality signals for page rank. But CWV isn't a one-and-done–they continue to evolve, and new measures, like Interaction to Next Paint (INP) may supplement, or event supplant the first generation of Core Web Vitals measures.
At Summit, Henri Helvetica, Head of Developer Community at WebPageTest will bring us up to speed with the core practices and vital technologies in front end performance today.
Don't miss your chance to see Henri Helvetica and many other inspiring speakers at Summit.
Tickets start at $1395.
