Awakening our better angels–the foundation of our Next conference
A few weeks back we announced the lineup for Next, our brand new conference.
Drawing on experts in economics, game theory, design, finance, data science, social psychology, behavioural economics and more, Next aims to reignite your thinking about the challenges you’re facing right now–from business models, to better user interaction, the (real, non hyped) place of AI, to the challenges of online disinformation and creating safer, healthier online spaces.
We’re privileged to have Nicholas Gruen as one of our speakers at Next. I’ve known Nicholas for quite a while now, since the Australian Government 2.0 Taskforce, on which he was a member, and for whom we created the original GovHack.
He’s appeared as part of conversations on our stage before–in 2022 talking about the potential impact of Generative AI on the literal day ChatGPT was released, and back in 2019 on the nature and impact of of digital money (oh, at Next, Alex Lakatos from the Interledger Foundation will be speaking about a standard protocol for money transfer, the Interledger Protocol).
Nicholas is an economist, and someone who thinks about why our modern world is the way it is. And how we can make it better, by building better institutions. This just released video helps establish some key themes and considerations for Next. I highly recommend this 6 or so minutes, an appetiser for the rest of the series, and for Nicholas’ talk at Next, and the conference as a whole.
Great reading, every weekend.
We round up the best writing about the web and send it your way each Friday.
