Friday 4 and Saturday 5 December 2026 · Stone & Chalk, Sydney
Most hackathons end on the day. You build something over a weekend, demo it to the people still standing, and by Monday it’s a repo nobody opens again.
This one ends on the world stage.
Our finalists pitch to the whole audience at AI Engineer Sydney on Monday the 7th — 800 engineers, founders and AI leaders, and a global audience watching on the AI Engineer YouTube channel. They’ll vote, and we’ll announce the winners at the conference.
Everything is accelerating in this era of AI, and we think hack events should too. So it runs Friday evening and Saturday. Not the whole weekend.

The lowdown
Friday evening. Form a team, get onboarded, hear the challenges, start planning.
Saturday. Build all day, with mentors and technical support on hand. Then submissions, demos and judging — and we’ll end the night with a drink and a chance to unwind.
Monday 7 December. Finalists pitch at AI Engineer Sydney.

We have been doing this a long time
We have been running hack events for well over a decade. We created GovHack for the Australian Government, ran Random Hacks of Kindness for the World Bank, staged Amped at Georgia Tech, and produced hackathons for the State Library of NSW and the NSW Government — alongside our own. So we know how to bring people together for a great event.
And we are running this one with MLAI, who bring their own community of AI and machine learning builders across Melbourne and Sydney.
