Year round learning for product, design and engineering professionals

Web Directions in 2016

2015 has been a time of transition for Web Directions, as you might well know if you’ve attended one of our events in the last 12 months. As we announced a little over a year ago, our co-founder Maxine Sherrin, stepped back from the day-to-day of the company, and in this first year since I took over running things we kept things mostly as they were.
But for 2016, we’ve got some changes afoot. Evolutionary, rather than revolutionary, and hopefully you’ll be as excited about them as we are.

Building on a great year in 2015, in 2016, we’ll be running 4 major events

  • A brand new event focussing on the rapid transformation taking place in the digital delivery of Government services, Transform.
  • Our 1 day Web design focussed Respond is now taking place over two days, and in both Sydney and Melbourne, and features the inventor of Responsive Web Design himself, Ethan Marcotte
  • After last year’s runaway success, the Front End Engineering and JavaScript focussed Code will also take place in both Sydney and Melbourne (until now it’s been Melbourne only).
  • And our flagship event, Web Directions is no more. But before you panic, it’s not going away, just updating to reflect how the Web world has changed since we started all those years ago. The two track Engineering and Design focussed event will now be known as Direction, and be a single track focussing on ideas and trends at the intersection of design and technology.

The sites for each these events, lovingly designed by the brilliant Simon Wright are all online, and we’ve launched the first round speakers for Respond, which is focussing squarely on Web design in the responsive age. Respond takes place April 6–7 in Sydney, and 11–12 in Melbourne.

Our other events will be launching early in 2016, and we can’t wait to let you know who we’ve lined up for these.

Download our 2015 Program of events.

Meanwhile, if you register before January 15th, not only will you get the best possible price, you’ll receive 4 A Book Apart eBooks by Ethan Marcotte and fellow Respond speaker Karen McGrane (they’re also doing a workshop in Sydney and Melbourne as well).
