Web Week kicks off – with loads of new events
The second Australian Web Week kicks off today, with a load of return events from last year, as well as plenty of new events as well.
A huge thanks to all those who are putting on events – many of which are free.
Today the week kicked off with the latest instalment of Australia’s IA conference, OZIA (it’s on tomorrow as well.)
Tonight, and running all weekend is Startup Camp IV (I’m sure it will be better than Rocky IV)
Sunday sees the return of one of my favourites, Social Climbing – with expert and novice indoor climbers alike hitting the walls. If you’ve never climbed, but always wanted to, then here’s your chance, while if you’re an old hand, or want to get back into climbing, connect up with a great crew of web folks from all over.
Also check out the great events happening next week, including the Australian Web Awards NSW presentation cocktail party – free food and drink people, and much more- RoroSyd for your rails people, the Stamford Great Debate, SydJS for your JavaScript folks, and Web Futures – for educators, students, parents, and anyone interested in career opportunities on the web.
There’s also Code War liveāon stage coding battles, networking parties, a free lecture by the Smithsonian’s Michael Edson, and more.
And it all wraps up with Amped – fresh from our first outing in Atlanta. It’s free, and will knock your socks off. But Australian web people – Atlanta set the bar high so you had better turn up ready to deliver.
Amped, and Web Week close with the Web Week Closing Party – free for Amped participants, or just $25 for others – with open bar, food, the Amped finalists going head to head for the grand prize, and more.
Come make the second Australian Web Week an even bigger success than last year’s, simply by turning up to one or more of these fantastic events.
Great reading, every weekend.
We round up the best writing about the web and send it your way each Friday.
