Usability – the word on everyone’s lips this week
Lisa Herrod has been breathing a bit of life into the local scene by turning the Social Usability Professionals Association meetups into a regular event at The Arthouse in Pitt St. If you haven’t been before, these are a great opportunity to mix with other local usability and UX people in a casual atmosphere.
You don’t have to be a UPA member to attend, if you’re working in the area of UX or interested in it, come along. It’s all about catching up, meeting, mixing and talking shop.
The next one is next Thursday, June 4th – come along!
But it’s not all just happening in Sydney though. On the training front, Tania Laing of Peak Usability, who will be speaking at Web Directions later this year, is also hosting a collection of full day workshops in Melbourne Brisbane and Sydney next month:
- Melbourne, 3 June 2009 – Web application design and interaction design
- Brisbane, 23 June 2009 – Web application design
- Brisbane, 24 June 2009 – Human characteristics and theoretical principles for usable web applications, intranet and internet sites
- Sydney, 30 June 2009 – Introduction to User Centred Design tools and techniques
- Sydney – 1 June 2009 – Discount evaluation techniques and how to conduct usability tests
Great reading, every weekend.
