Upcoming RIA events from Microsoft and Adobe
Rich Internet Applications, a term increasingly used for desktop like web applications, or hybrid web applications, developed with technologies like Flash, Silverlight, AIR and others are gaining increasing attention among web designers and developers.
If you are interested in learning more about these specific technologies and their use, Adobe and Microsoft are both running events in the coming couple of months in a number of cities.
Microsoft’s REMIX event, held in Sydney on May 20, and Melbourne May 22, featuring a keynote by one of our favourite speakers, the wonderful Mark Pesce (worth the price of admission alone) is a one day event focussing on Microsoft’s web developer tools and technologies.
Adobe’s AIRCAMP is a one day event looking in detail at Adobe’s AIR technology for building hybrid Web/Desktop apps. AIRCAMPs are going to be held in Melbourne (on May 15th the day before Web Directions UX), Brisbane (May 20), Canberra (May 22), Sydney (June 10), and across the ditch in Auckland June 24 and Wellington June 26.
While at Web Directions we are big fans of the open web stack of standards, there’s no doubt these technologies also have a role to play in the evolution of the web. So get along to one or both these events to see what’s happening in the world of RIAs.
Great reading, every weekend.
We round up the best writing about the web and send it your way each Friday.
