Sydney Apple Store Hype
Myself and the guys from Agency Rainford were just slavish enough to brave the miserable conditions in Sydney last night and get on down to “the first Apple Store in the Southern Hemisphere”. But just a little bit too self aware to cue in the rain for the privilege of getting in, so we went to The Marble Bar for a swift Corona instead (yeah, I know, but when in Rome….).
Check out Dan’s photos for a peak at the inner sanctum, or my own efforts from the outside – made me think of a Public Enemy music video from the nineties, thus the title.
It was funny to see Australians really buying into the hype by cheering and woo-hoo-ing as people entered the store. I’m not sure how I felt about it, but it was something like how I’d feel if I walked past a room at the Convention Centre when an Anthony Robbins seminar was going on – vaguely embarassed. Feeling like that though will never get you droves of followers so loyal that they will cross the Pacific on a 14 hour flight to attend the opening of one of your stores though, so who’s the fool?
