Amped #1 coming together

Next week sees Web Directions USA head to Atlanta for the first time. We’re really looking forward to what is shaping up as a great event in a town I’ve really grown to like (not least because of the fantastic web folks here).

We’re also really proud to be working with great Atlanta based groups like AWDG and AIGA Atlanta to be putting together the first ever Atlanta Web Week, a week of great industry events and parties, many free.

And, we’re particularly excited to be holding our first Amped hack event here – a remix and remaster of the hack day concept. It’s free, with focussed challenges for web developers and designers, interaction designers, students, and anyone who loves developing and design. And there’s no need to stay up all night – we pack it into one high octane day.

The incredible prizes on offer include trips to developer events in New York, San Francisco, and the grand Prize a trip to Tokyo to attend Web Directions East, and meet up with the Japanese web community. There’s also hardware and software from our key partners Palm and Adobe, and loads of fun prizes we’re putting together as well.

There are workshops throughout the day, so you can pick up some new skills and ideas, and mentors on hand all day to inspire you, and lend a hand to help you create something amazing.

Amped is fully catered, and wraps with great party, and yep, all that’s free as well – all you have to do is turn up, and bring your design and dev skills. We’ll take care of the rest.

Can’t make it in person to Atlanta (our Sydney event is coming up October 16th btw)? Then sign up to participate online – we’ve got special prizes just for online Amped participants.

So, sign up and get ready to show what you can do in 10 hours of high energy hacking.
